BUDS FEST

BUDS FEST

While one festival after another disappears or scales back, Buds is deliberately moving in the opposite direction. The Swiss-Brazilian artist, musician, visionary, and curator from Biel/Bienne has taken BUDS-FEST to the next level – and that definitely takes some cojones.

What started at Coupole in Biel/Bienne has since evolved into an international platform for music and culture. BUDS-FEST has held four editions so far: twice at Coupole in Biel/Bienne, attracting around 1,000 visitors each time; once in São Paulo, with around 500 guests; and this year, for the first time as an open-air festival at Gurzelen in Biel/Bienne, bringing together around 2,000 people.

The concept is as simple as it is powerful: bringing together artists from different countries, regions, and language communities. Swiss acts are given a platform, while Buds also brings international artists to Switzerland. The result is encounters between sounds, cultures, and communities that go far beyond linguistic and national borders.

But BUDS-FEST is more than just a line-up. It thrives on its family-like atmosphere, strong sense of community, and the feeling that people come together here to connect, rather than simply attend a concert.

At a time when many festivals are struggling, taking a break, or disappearing altogether, the growth of BUDS-FEST is remarkable. Buds has not scaled back – it has expanded.

From Coupole to Gurzelen. From Biel/Bienne to São Paulo and back. Rooted locally, yet thinking internationally. BUDS-FEST shows that those who believe in their vision can push beyond boundaries.

Now, there's just one question left: What's next for 2027?
