41 Collective

The Next Generation Behind the Camera

If you spent this summer at open-air gigs and festivals, you’ve probably already seen their images—even if the name 41 Collective is still new to you.

Behind it are Youngrayo, Tristanstlws, bisschenblond and aleri.shots. Two photographers and two videographers who have each carved out a place in the urban music scene over the past few months. And their reach extends well beyond Switzerland: their work now takes them to Germany, France and as far as the US. Now, they’re joining forces.

And 41 clearly wants to be more than just a crew standing in front of the stage with cameras.

Their approach is about offering artists a full service: photographing shows, following them backstage, producing tour vlogs or aftermovies, shooting press photos or delivering the cover for their next release. Instead of treating content as individual deliverables, they aim to document an artist’s world—onstage and off.

Their first projects already show how this can work. A backstage shot of Molly Santana was later used as an official cover. The collective also produced the aftermovie for the 6PM Festival—two very different examples of how broadly they now approach their work behind the camera.

Something exciting is happening more broadly, too: a new generation of photographers and videographers is emerging, one that isn’t waiting to be let in. One day they’re in the photo pit at a Swiss festival; the next, they’re backstage in Germany or France, then flying across the Atlantic for another job. They know the artists, understand their visual language and are building their own audiences on social media along the way.

41 Collective is a great example of that—and definitely a name to keep on your radar.
